McKenna Begala
Principal, External Public Markets
Teacher Retirement System of Texas

McKenna Begala is a Principal in the External Public Markets group at the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), a $225bn public pension serving over 2.1 million members. Based in Austin, she invests across hedge fund and long-oriented global strategies, including helping oversee the firm’s Portable Alpha portfolio. She additionally serves on the firm’s Women’s Network steering committee. Prior to joining TRS in 2022, she was a Senior Associate and Manager at Dimensional Fund Advisors. McKenna is a CFA and CAIA charterholder, mentor for young women through Girls Who Invest, and graduate of the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin.

Juan Pablo Sans
Senior Vice President, Account Management – U.S. Institutional
PIMCO

Juan Pablo is a senior vice president and account manager in the Austin office, focusing on U.S. institutional clients. Previously at PIMCO, he worked as an account manager in Latin America. Prior to joining PIMCO in 2019, he worked at BNP Paribas in New York as a fixed income and interest rate derivatives trader for Latin America. He holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business and an undergraduate degree in actuarial sciences from Anahuac University in Mexico City.
